Thanks to OP in Boots BB grabbit looks like the 342 and BOGOHP offers are carrying over to the next week, so if any of you have any vouchers left looks like you may still be ok to use them up glitching until sunday. :)

Obviously me, TrulyMadly and Thrifty Sister will not be joining you on this one. ;)

    Morning everyone :)

Follow up article on the "Coupon Kid" - lovely to see a bit more about his side of the story and about him and his mum, as I think he got some bad back-lash after the earlier article.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2322786/Teenage-voucher-vulture-reveals-saved-1-shopping-80p-sachet-bought.html

Couple of quotes caught my eye :)

"He is horrified at how other people shop. ‘The other day a woman in front of me was spending £150 and I thought: “How is that even possible? ......"

"Yet he’s the first to concede that it isn’t just about saving money. ‘I’m pretty sure I’d do it even if I was rich. It’s a hobby, a way of life, an obsession. It’s about beating the system and feeling you have won."

Think most of us could see a little bit of ourselves somewhere in his story.

And it looks like it may have all started on MSE and he is a huge fan of Martin Lewis - Jordan, I hope you read this thread :)

I've picked out the following quotes and other things (in the order in which they appear in the article) - if I go in a round-about way (no offence intended) - can anyone, such as fairclaire/Angelsmadv, spot a pattern?

"...he has always been older and wiser than his years..."

I've picked out the picture showing him sloping at an angle to the right.

    "'I'm a bit of a geek.'"

"'I'm not really into normal teenage stuff...'" (in fact the whole of what the article quotes him as saying there is of interest).

    "...computer-savvy teenager..."

""He's kind and considerate and genuinely helpful...'"

"And he does know his stuff."

"It's a hobby... an obsession..." (emphasis added).

And the comment from 'peahair' of Stoke: "...a quiet young lad..."

    Mmmm...

Of course, in my own way, I know that I should not create speculation but I can't help but go ahead anyway and more than likely succeed in doing so (am I really aware of the possible consequences of my actions???!!;) One suspects not!;);):rotfl:)

Please folks - do NOT discuss. But a short comment from fairclaire/Angelsmadv that doesn't attribute anything to anyone might be appreciated.

The thing that pees me off about that article is the 'how can you spend 150 pounds on a shop?' line. Well, when you cook dinners from scratch and don't buy 500 Dr O's pizzas.....quite easily. Especially if its a weekly shop for a family. Not everyone wants to buy things just because they're on offer and grocery shopping can be bloomin' expensive. Especially if you like to cook as much as my folks do.

    Anyway......rant over ;)

When he goes shopping, it is with military planning. He admits that he has been known to do spreadsheets before tackling Tesco.
He has a special plastic folder with all his discount vouchers in and he cross-references items online.
I’ll never just use a voucher when I get it. I wait for the items to be reduced in a sale or promotion, too. That’s where the real key is.

RN: I think you could be right ;):D:rotfl:

    And that too.

Personally, I think Savvy's probably right - but not qualified to be!!;)
