I've been in council tenancy for 25 years, since my kids were born. Worked solidly until I had a mini stroke 4 years ago. (had 5 since). 3 bed with 4 kids house was packed, and now 3 have left leaving me my dw and ds2. I was a long distance driver, always have been. My wife is semi disabled awaiting a hip replacement, I can't get a decent job due to tia's and my dw can't either so we're both on benefits.
Housing have decided we have to pay for the extra room in our home cos it's not needed, although we have our grandkids stay regularly.
We get £129 a week to live on. So this thread is pretty much our bread and butter!
This government is a load of *****.

Sorry if it seems I'm ranting. :)

Can I join in the rant please.I was forced to give up work in 2000 due to ill health. Worked for 25 years and paid lots of tax and NI.
Claimed Incapacity Benefit and have a letter telling me that I was considered permanently disabled and would never have to go for another medical.
But they have changed the rules :mad::mad: and I have just been sent the forms to apply for ESA, with a maximum 6 month award if you get enough points and pass/fail the medical.
If I could I have got my State Pension at 60,in 4 years time as I was promised it would have helped, but no this has now been deferred until I am 65, and is going up again before then.
I have been reading some of the horror stories about people being deemed fit for work who are obviously not and its making me feel desperate.
I have so far spent over 40 hours trying to complete the forms and collate supporting evidence - that's hoping they bother to even read it.

Incapacity Claims before 2001 were disregarded if you got any Private/
Ill-Health Pension, but after this date they take back 50p in the £ to start with then £ per £. Any any break in Incapacity to ESA would be counted as a new claim.

I don't understand how they can break a contract, something set in stone and make new rules up as they go along, if I did this I would be breaking the law.

Thank you AngelsMadv I did use it to deposit to a new (to me) "large deposit required with large play through requirements" casino, but unfortunately I have been caught out by two words - Red Mist. I should have stuck with my plan to play through the requirement and leave, no matter what the balance, but thought was a little short I would be clever and keep playing to get back to at least my deposit ...:o

I now no longer have a balance to worry about . Hopefully the cashback comes through which will mitigate some of it :(.

Important lesson there Elite - it is possible to lose your deposit on some of these gambling offers - I am still way ahead from doing them but messed up big stylee on this last one!

Let me just say, that at the height of my problem, chasing losses, I put £1000 on red. The outcome is irrelevant. If you enter into these Bingo and Casino games you MUST show control and leave as soon as you've met the wagering requirements - no matter what. Remember, even on Roulette the house has a 4% edge. :A

The 4 pack of beans was £2.63 and is now reduced to £2

The 4 pack with 2 "extra free" is £3.74

Housing Tax etc - Can I suggest discussion of this nature is taken over to the relevant boards.

Whilst some on here may not agree with it, some may well agree with it. This thread isn't for politics, or so I thought, and could diverge into something that offends someone.

With 9 under my 3 bed roof for plenty of the time, and sometimes 12, I'd rather not voice my opinion.

I'd've bought the shelf full and DTD it. I did the same with KitKats when they had 100% free. They tried telling me they were different. I simply asked if they'd like me to phone trading standards and Nestle to tell them that Tesco were charging more for a product where the manufacturer were offering extra free! :rotfl:

Hello, I've just decided to say hello after lurking for a couple of weeks. It hadn't even crossed my mind to shop as you folks here do until I came across this board.:o It's been a real eye opener!

Hi - welcome! Don't miss the ones about waiting for offers to end in T and then buying if SEL is wrong - double the diff. claim back! I've said this before on a previous thread: always best buying the items they aren't promoting or 'don't want you to buy', items that are cheaper elsewhere, tucked in the aisles, rather than offers at the shelf ends (their offers are of course best bought at the competitor!). Or waiting for those very items, currently out at the front of the store, to go back up in price and be found back in the inside shelves (hopefully with the offer price still on the shelf when in fact it's expired - and hopefully then, as it's actually risen in price, it may also be cheaper elsewhere and thus, on the right shop, the double the difference, or £2 GC claim, and then the price diff. refund on the price that actually applied vs the competitor back!) You won't get any 'deals' rubbish of actually buying those 'half' price items on 'half' price in the store that has the offer here!

Do the exact opposite of what they expect, or seem to 'want you to do', and you'll be quids in I feel! There must be some way they make those vast millions of profit despite constantly telling us of prices that they are cutting - I suspect it's the popular, well-advertised products - that the general wider public then goes out and buys - that probably represent the worst deal, often, and give the least back to ourselves!

Morning all. Worth a bilge scan as we learn how Dave Morton lost his cherry :D and some very odd 69 stuff.
    :)

Thanks for the summation of the 9 pages of bilge I just read!
