Thomas Lloyd or Saxon Leather

I'm looking to buy a Chesterfield (classic) 3 seater and a single seater armchair, and the two companies I've seen which look good so far are Saxon Leather and Thomas Lloyd. Saxon Leather have been the most responsive, very quick to send samples and answer questions etc. They seem more professional.

But, Thomas Lloyd would be £500 cheaper to buy from. And aside from waiting a bit for the catalogue/samples to arrive, they seem okay as well.

Would I be getting what I pay for from Saxon Leather or are Thomas Lloyd a safe bet too? I know that TL used to be independent years ago but they are now part of sofasofa and the reviews are nowhere near as good as for Saxon Leather. I've read all those but what are peoples experiences here?

  • I bought 2 leather chairs from sofa sofa about 4 yrs ago, they are in antique red. However Ive nearly washed the red off the arms and they are now a fetching pink :(

Yikes! Do you think that is to do with the leather option or the quality of the product from sofa sofa?

Have a recliner and chesterfield from TL - been in conservatory for 8 years now. No faults at all, easy to clean (don't know why anyone would 'wash' leather) but jumping cats have scratched a few marks, but that's hardly the fault of the leather!

More than pleased with TL quality.

Bought ours from Saxon. Great service, still good as new after several years. One word of advice though, our cushions are too soft, apparently we should have specified firmer, but didn't realise there were options. Could have had them redone, but of course that would have meant no cushions for some time. Worth checking.

Has anyone bought from TL recently? I hear good things back from when they were independent but now they are part of sofasofa the reviews aren't so good...

I thought I saw a reply from Thomas Lloyd on here but seems to have been deleted? Anyway, I think they put my mind at rest although I'm still mulling it over - there's a few companies I'm looking at. Chesterfields of England are also on my RADAR now and have been pretty helpful so far. Also have an offer on 3 piece suites at the moment! Bonus!

Might be worth considering this company:

Cannot comment on the sofas, but I purchased some office furniture from them last year. In fact I wanted a bespoke Computer Pedestal desk without the cupboard door to house the computer tower with the matching filing cabinets.

Service was excellent ( I broke a lock in front of the delivery men ) it was replaced FOC and lots of keys were provided.

I'm very pleased with the quality and would order from them again.

But with sofas you really need to go to a showroom.
