Online documents

I was wondering if there is an online storage service for documents where they can be accessed by several people online, but only edited by one person at a time to avoid errors.

I mainly use word documents and 1 spreadsheet but it is accessed frequently by 3 people and I dont want to lose any updates due to 2 people updating at the same time.

Both google docs and office web apps offer collaborative editing (co-authoring) in their web apps.

If you have office 2010, 2011 or 2013 and you store the document on skydrive you can have multiple editors on the same file and they will get merged when each user saves
