There is such a scheme, kb, though depends on your house insulation/ draught proofing.
Even if you qualified, a new free boiler would be last on the list.
The advert seems dodgy, a Manchester address , Doncaster as the target and mobile phone numbers.0 -
it's very genuine although in its early stages. According to one of the assessors in our area for our business the general rule of thumb is over 8 years old and you get a new boiler, if it's under 8 you get a free repair. Best to ask your utility supplier.0

I might qualify but would think twice about it, even though for nowt.
Why replace a still economical and trouble free boiler for a potential electronic nightmare.0 -
hi ihave had the assessment done for energy measures and a bolier was recommeneded. I have also had a heating surveyor come round to see where boiler is to be fitted. This was done by scottish southern gas and elec and a company called green deal solutions. its been couple of weeks and still not date for intstallation of my new boiler. I phoned them today and green deal solutions said all the paper work has been done from there end and they just waiting for the funding/grant. Intially i was told the whole process would take about 8 weeks, but now they say there cant give me a time frame.... bohoo as my boiler is not working its kaputt . does anyone know how long the whole process takes.
i only went with scottish southern as they told me it d take 8 weeks !
alos the assessment highlighted other areas of energy saving.... does any one know what else they are offering0 -

Spot on really Ken, if your boiler is up to scratch its probably not worth it (even if its free). A boiler that is around 8 years old is likely to have an efficiency rating of under 80%. Whereas the new one will be just over 90%, so approximately a 10% saving (thats as long as the old one is working up to spec). With most peoples gas bills coming in at the top side of £800, this may be worth £80 or so a year. If your present boiler is much older, it may be much more inefficient, so the savings will be higher.
The decision to go for the offer then depends on a guess as to the lifetime of your present boiler, and the costs that you might reasonably expect to incur with whichever boiler you go for/stick with, IYSWIM. Many people seem to think that modern boilers are likely to have a shorter lifespan than older boilers, perhaps any gas fitter who reads this may like to comment?0 -
Well as far as I'm aware there is a 2 year guarantee on both installations and repairs whether they are related to the original fault or not, so if you qualify for the grant repair costs wonnt be an issue for a while.0

i phoned green deals solutions adn they cant tell me how long its going to take to fit my boiler as the old one is kaput.... how longs a a piece of string ? until then they cannot offer me any support at all.... Trust me the boilr scheme is just for the people making money off it...... Initailly they told me it was going to be 6-8 weeks as an inticement ....0
