    Sorry for butting in on this thread....but I want to buy a few bits and bobs from Chinese websites, I'm trying to google how much you can spend before you may have to pay tax/import duty....I seem to think it is £18 from once reading something on here....can't seem to find the figure.....can anyone help...soolin, i'm hoping you may know....cheers

    it's £15 now and as usual it is th ehandling charge that is the expensive bit for cheaper items, currently £8 via Royal mail.

    Do keep safe though, if Ali Express is having issues and DHGate has mostly had its paypal privileges removed then you may be looking at unsafe payments which you stand to lose.

  • I buy quite a bit from Alibaba and Aliexpress and I have never had a problem. It takes quite a while if you use China post but then again it's traving a very long way for nothing. :)

    OK just to finish this thread -called up RM again a few days ago and they said it was now showing as "somewhere in the system" and they thought it had been rescanned ie. lost, found, and the process started again. So advice was to sit tight a few more days.

    And it turned up today! Looked like someone had played "let's make a cube into a sphere just by kicking" with the box, but the contents (trainers) were fine....

    Alibaba didn't have 40 thieves in this instance..

    Great! Make sure you go to the Aliexpress website and let them know the goods were delivered OK so the vendor gets paid!
