High bills from E-on

Hi ,
We have moved into a new property the bill for April was £70 for the month and that was us not in the house for two weeks and now the new bill is £250 ! these are very high. I have never had more than £100 even in the winter months. Is there anything I can do about this ...the readings are correct but I just don't understand how they can be so high. The house is a four bed semi built in 2006 .

Is your heating gas? Do you have an imperial or metric gas meter? Or are these electric costs?

From your post I presume that the new house was supplied by Eon when you moved in.

Not just Eon, but all suppliers default 'New' inherited customers onto their Standard, ie Most Expensive, tariff.

Enter 16,000 Kwh a year Gas use, and 3,500 Kwh a year Elec use into some Switch sites to find a better tariff

    Hi Dellers

What period of time do the bills cover? Going from £70 to £250 is a major jump if comparing similar periods, even allowing for higher winter use.

I know you say the bills are based on actual meter readings, however, was one a catch up following a previous estimated bill?

Sorry for questions, but trying to understand what's going on here.

I agree with dogshome, have a look at the comparison sites for details of different tariffs, both with us and the other suppliers.

If you can give me a bit more info, I'll try to help further. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer. Happy to help.
