Hi Folks,
I changed my brake lights last night after a neighbour pointed out that the offsite light wasn’t working.
After battling my way in to the light fitting, swapping the top bulbs and putting it all back together again. The brake lights either seem to be on all the time, or there isn’t a difference between the brightness of the lights when the brake pedal is pressed and not pressed.
Having done a little bit of research I thought this may be related to the brake light switch above the brake pedal. I found the switch and pushed it in, and it sort of clicked like a button but didn’t pop back out again. I don’t know what I’ve done, but wonder if this has happened to anyone else? Could it be jammed? Would a little WD-40 help?
It’s worth mentioning that the middle brake light on the back windscreen still works correctly.
I’m hoping to avoid a trip to the garage, so hopefully someone can help?
Thanks.
J

You probably put the bulb in the wrong way round so take it out and move it round 180 degrees, if the high level brake light is working then the switch is ok.0

Thanks Molerat.
Bingo! I've actually just got back from doing that very thing before reading your post. A colleague of mind set me straight. I didn't know that dual fillament bulbs would behave like this, but it makes sense now that I think about it.
Cheers for your help!

Do that to some modern cars and you would be sitting in the dealership drinking expensive coffee and looking at a bill for £600 for a new module.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
