USB 'phones' aren't often that good, they are just a basic external sound card with mic and earpiece in a moulded plastic case.

Tesco have them for around £8 and you can download drivers for it to use with other software / services - http://www.yealink.com/en/download.asp?tag=others You can use up the free £5 credit from tesco, but wouldn't really use Tesco after that as they and Skype are two of the dearest around. Something like VoIP Stunt or VoIP Discount maybe cheaper, or even VoIP.co.uk they have a good £20 for the year offer.

If you have a router you'd be better off with something like a Linksys PAP2 ATA (available on eBay) and connect up a regular corded or cordless phone, then you can use the service without the PC being on. These are SIP devices. Work fine with Sipgate, VoIP Stunt, VoIP Discount etc, VoIP.co.uk, OrbTalk, VoIPTalk and other SIP services.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)
