Can anyone tell me how many times you can use each muslin cloth?

The Liz Earle ones until you decide they are too grubby lol

I wash them in the machine.

I wonder if the Superdrug cloths are much the same. I've read reviews on the SD brand and people seem to really rate it - can't argue about the price either.

*cough* Let me let you into a little secret....

Some of us worked out, some time ago, that it's the exfoliating action of the hot muslin cloth that gives your skin the improved appearance - nothing to do with the lotion, although I grant you the Liz Earle cleanser smells lovely.

However, I am too MSE to pay £10 for a lovely smell. So nowadays, I buy a metre of muslin on Ebay, cut it into rectangles*, et voila! Enough muslin cloths to last you through numerous machine washes - and you can use it with any cleanser you like. Or just soap.

*If you want to be fancy, you can hem it with your sewing machine at this point.

I prefer the Superdrug naturally radiant cleanser to Liz Earle and the cloth is just as good. I've tried the Vitamin E one as well and it's also pretty good.

I usually wash my face with Dermol (soap free) and a small face towel and a sink full of warm water. I wonder if the muslin cloth would be much better than the face cloth? Never tried muslin before..not sure I've even felt a piece but I would definitely try it if it was better than just a good old face towel?

mizfiesta - muslin cloth is a fine-weave, very lightweight but slightly scratchy cotton cloth... I bet you would recognise it if you saw it, it's the white cloth that they used to wrap Christmas puddings in, or alternately, it's the cloth you find your mulled wine spices wrapped in? Or have you seen it used to strain soups or jellies through?

It is definitely more abrasive than a flannel cloth, which gets softer when wet. Muslin holds onto its slightly scratchy quality! (it doesn't actually scratch, it exfoliates) It is incredibly cheap, I got a metre of it for about £1.50. When I saw Liz Earle charging £5 for two cloths, how I laughed.

Lol. I think I know the stuff you're talking about. Yea I'll definitely try it now Madmemoiselle.

Ps I used to see Liz Earle on the TV fairly regularly years ago and she always had a kind of goody goody, perfect lady wife thing going on. I would feel as rough as a bag of badgers next to her lol.

love the liz earle stuff I'm just too lazy to change to a cheaper alternative and I do love the smell, bit skint just now though. Which is better between the boots and superdrug cleansers?
