Halifax Credit Card Application

Hi friendly MSE'ers

I applied for a Halifax Clarity Card online on 21st April. Got an email on 23rd April asking me to go into local branch to provide proof of id and address, and they would forward this on to applications department. Did that same day, but heard nothing since. Called up the credit card applications phone line this morning and was told they haven't recieved said documents and apologised. They said if I re-submit these docs they could continue the application process.

Now originally, I wanted this card for my upcoming 2 week holiday in Spain, but now its cutting it a bit fine, and I doubt they would get it all sorted in a week.

What will happen if I don't bother sending in my documents again? Would the application just 'time out' or 'lapse'?

Thanks in advance for any answers. :)

The application will time out. You may still get a hard search on your record, but if they haven't got proof of ID they may not have done so yet. It won't really do any harm, especially if you aren't really worried about applying for anything else in the next couple of months.

Thank you. They've already had a search done, so I'll let the application time out. I have no plans for applying for anything else for a long time as I have zero debt, I just wanted this Clarity card for cash withdrawals while on holiday. Maybe next year! :)

I applied and got my pin in exactly 1 week followed by the card the next day but did not need to give any ID. The process has speeded up somewhat though as husband applied about two and half years ago and his took around 2-3 weeks.

Hi, I've just applied for a Halifax credit card too. It was approved but I was expecting an email to come through too (as it does with most things these days) but didn't get one so was just wondering if you got one after applying?

    Thanks

I did get an email shortly after applying but I also gave my mobile number as the application said something like 'so we can update you regarding the progress of your application by text message' (words to that effect) but never received any text messages at all. I assume this could have been sidestepped as I got an instant decision but was half expecting a text saying 'your card and pin will be/have been despatched'. I applied early evening so it could have been a manually sent email I guess. My advice is to see if you get an email today, if not call them.
