I really hope someone here can help me.
I have opened up google chrome and this page keeps coming up instead of anything I put in the address bar. I assume it is a virus, but am still able to get on here with internet explorer.
any help welcomed as I don't know what to do

Download and install MalwareByte's from here: http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php
Once you have installed MalwareByte's run an update to make sure you have the latest updates then run a full scan. This should hopefully get rid of the malware.
Additional information and removal guide is available here:

So ive downloaded it and done a scan which detected 14 items, none were called pagesinxt.com though.
now a little balloon pops up in the bottom right hand corner telling me it has blocked access to a potentially malicious website everytime I use google chrome. does this mean its a problem with chrome then?
Thank you for the help BTW:beer:.0 -
Google Chrome might have been modified by the malware, the home page or search engines might have been changed. There is a section on checking your browser settings in the URL I posted above, will post it here again: http://www.im-infected.com/hijacker/pagesinxt-com-hijacker.html
Google Chrome is mentioned towards the bottom of the page.
Check the settings of your browser and then manage search engines, there might be a rogue entry there. Also check your installed programs as mentioned in the guide, you might find an entry for the malware that Malwarebytes's hasn't removed.
Good luck!0
