Good website for buying a PC from

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone had any good words to say about any mail order websites?

I know what specs I want from my desktop (XP not Vista- some sites seem to be Vista only on the newest models), so if there are any sites that are good for giving plenty of options that can be recommended, then it would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Dell. Some people slate them but if you look out for some of there offers then bargains can be had. Dont bother with the expensive warranty, can be bought cheaper elsewhere, as can things like memory upgrades etc. The base units though are excellent quality.

    Excellent stuff, thanks guys.

You got any opinions on the OS being OEM or not? I like the idea of having the install CDs (I don't at the moment), but is it worth the extra odd £30?

What I mean is, would it be sensible to buy without an OS and buy it myself separately? I was hoping XP prices might come down with Vista being here, but I'm not sure they have...

Ideally, I'd like to customise my own- any good websites that give you a choice of components and then build it for you?

I'm going to reuse lots of bits from my current PC, so only need basics like a fast processor and lots of memory (maybe a good graphics card), but I don't need soundcard etc, so would like to have the option of not buying stuff I don't want.

    Any recommendations?

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ More than happy with this company. Excellent customer service and after sales support by either local rate 'phone number or e-mail (UK based). Branded components and good build quality. I've had one of their pcs now for over 12 months and its been flawless.
