Labour lobbying to end reduced council tax rate for singletons

I just read in the news that Labour are lobbying to end the reduced 25% off rate for Council tax for singletons.
Has any politician any idea how hard it is for people at the moment? They can't just find an extra £30 or so a month from nowhere.
Our local council just made people with 2nd homes pay 150% council tax - which is hard if you are left a house or are selling one etc.
I also see that the pensioners higher rate tax allowance is being axed and the age going up for pensions to be paid.
Does any party care about the people? I cans see the rise and rise of UKIP on the back of such policies.

That's only on long term unoccupied & unfurnished properties (2 years or more).I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

Depends council to council, some charge a lot quicker than 2 years.

They don't. The problem is the government are slowly gibing councils the ability to set discounts on a local level whilst at the same time cutting funding and telling them to raise it locally.
