I tend to look about abit on the internet I would ask generallised questions on a forum but wouldn't necessarily belive or take as gospel anything anyone says after all forums are largely opinion based and whilst someone may well be spot on there will be myths and someone not trained couldn't seperate the two.
For instance I work in a healthcare setting so am a little more knowledgable than some BUT nowhere near as knowledgable as a GP etc having said that my GP surgery are hopeless they refuse point blank to help me out with certain things and threatened to kick me off the practise when I suggested getting a prescription for something I really needed from a UK based online dr. I would also seek advice from my mum (registered nurse) still amazes me how many old wifes tales are about as stated above only yesterday an old auntie tried to convince me you can catch an STI from a toilet seat PMSL.
NHS Direct could be better but they do err on the side of caution I always think this is because of compo claims and them being held by what they say my GP is of the belief that you can't diagnose/ treat illness over the phone.
