Broth & soup mix using slow cooker/pressure cooker

Hi,

I have some packs of Granose Broth & Soup Mix, which really need to start being used as they've in my cupboard for ages. They contain dried yellow and green split peas, pearl barley, marrow fat peas, red lentils, aduki beans and barley flakes.

The instructions say to soak overnight, then boil rapidly for 10 minutes before making the soup.

I was wondering if the rest of the cooking can be done in the slow cooker or pressure cooker, and which would be best? I have both a slow cooker and a pressure cooker. Or if anyone has any interesting recipes that could use the broth mix, rather than just the recipe on the side of the pack.

Many thanks in advance!

Caz :-)

Hi, I use these broth mixes and I usually use the slow cooker.
I can't remember what is on the side but I add any veg I have and stock cubes. Sometimes a little chicken or beef if there is some left over. But just the mix, carrots and onions with some mixed herbs and salt and pepper will be good. Hope you enjoy it. Esther x

I used it in both the SC and a PC. Really depends on how much time you have although I think soups often taste better done in the PC with less cooking time. Having said that I think they always taste better the following day when they're reheated.
