Have you lifted the spare wheel out ? sometimes their is a well below where the wheel sits. On my current car their is a polstyrene collar around the spare wheel and the socket is housed in a hole in the underside of the collar, took me ages to find out where it was hidden. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

Local garage is looking at a couple of quid if he can put a socket over, £10-£25 if he needs to weld - not sure whether that includes/means replacing them though!
For £25 I'd say go for it - replacement "ordinary" nuts are only going to be a couple of quid apiece ( if they're not included in that price ), and it'll save you a whole load of hassle in the long run.0 -
Our local tyre fitters put the airgun on my locking wheel nut( despite me specifically asking them not to ) and they sheared the key, so it was useless. They then denied all responsibility and more or less to go away and sort the problem myself. The main dealers were pretty unhelpful, so I took the car to the place I use to have our cars serviced, they drilled out all 4 locking nut, it took them best part of an afternoon and they charged me £125.
I was quite annoyed at the tyre place.0 -
if its a common (cheap) locking nut you may be able to just buy a key from ebay.
Failing that most tyre places are experieced with this kind of stuff and they'll just sacrifice a 12 pointed socket - hammer it into the locking nut and then undo it.0 -
if they are the later ford locking nuts with the collar around them like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-FORD-LOCKING-ALLOY-WHEEL-LOCK-NUTS-Focus-I-II-III-C-Max-Kuga-/251167223866?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&fits=Car+Make%3AFord&hash=item3a7abbb03a
you can knock a narrow chisel into them and then put a wrench or spanner on them and turn them .0 -

i had these on a focus , the centers went through easy, they are not solid like some, of the fords, they put the collar on them so you cant get a socket on the outside, typical fords.0 -
