Outlook 07 on Vista

Complete techie know nothing here, so please keep any advice simple!
I have Outlook 2007 on Vista at home, and I can't get it to pick up any emails or anything. It says its not online or connected. I want it to pick up my emails from my existing account. I get these at work on XP with Outlook 2003 (?) and on the internet from Microsoft Outlook Web Access. Any ideas?
If this isn't enough info ask away. Thanks in advance.
