Skegness or Scarbrough

Hello

We are looking to go to a seaside resort over bank holiday. Probably for a couple of nights over bank holiday with our 5 year old daughter.

My daughter loves amusements , kids rides etc and the beach.

Which is the best for kids and has more going on? Which has the best things within a short distance.

Are they both similar?

Any info on either would be appreciated.

I'd plump for Scarborough personally. The South Bay area is full of amusements, all on one street (Foreshore Road) which is right behind the beach so you won't have to walk too much. There's also a small fair at one end - think it's called Luna Park.

There's also plenty of other things to do - Scarborough Castle, Sea Life Centre (always vouchers knocking around for this - but it gets some dodgy reviews on TripAdvisor), Peasholm Park, North Bay Railway, there might be something on at the Open Air Theatre.

And if you fancied a trip out of Scarborough then Bridlington is just down the coast with more of the same - amusements etc.

Filey is also very nice. On a smaller scale than Scarborough or Brid, with a few amusements on the front, nice fish and chips and a good beach.

Lived in Scarborough for 3 years and still love the place to pieces! Also try Solid Rock Cafe for amazing food and cupcakes ;)

Well never been to Skegness so cant compare but I am a Scarborian. Personally South bay is where amusements are and cafes and bars like Harbour bar which is lovely old 50's type bar with wonderful ice cream. North bay is much less commercial but we have Peasholm Park, the North Bay railway and sea life centre which NBR goes to. There is work going on at Northbay as they are improving the sewage along marine drive so traffic is one-way from South to North only part way. Spent last Thursday having a ice cream at Jaconelli and parking on marine drive looking at wonderful views of north bay one of best parts of Yorkshire coast.

I live on North side looking out to sea, breath taking views

Oh and chippy at Peasholm is nice went there last week for first time as my favourite one was closed, its quite a busy chippy and rate it very good its up road from Peasholm
  • Skegness is a lovely place, but it has nothing on scarborough

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get fish and chips on a sunday night? We'd probably be getting to scarborough around 7pm, staying in the travelodge (yes, I know!)

I live in Scarborough. Most fish n chips shops are closed Sunday but on sea front they might be. Try fish pan near lifeboat house on foreshore dont go to famous brand on on same road, cant remember name now heard its poor value and food can be cold

Best ones I find are Peasholm fish n chip shop, columbus ravine near north bay and Crossgates between seamer and scarborough near Morrisons

Enjoy your stay weather here is hot and hasnt rained for weeks
