No holidays in the last 10 months and they run from April to April so I lost my holiday days for the previous year.
Ok I just wanted to find out all the details before I questioned anybody.

Did you request holidays before your holiday year ran out? The company that you work for can dictate when you take holidays, they cannot prevent you from taking them at all. If you want to book time off, and are constantly refused, ask when it would be acceptable to take it.

In the 9 months preceding this April did you try to book any holidays and was refused or did you wait untill March to try and use them?

Dunno the legalities but where I work we cannot have time off during busy periods. We have a couple of 'windows' where there is either a blanket ban on anyone having holidays and another time where there are a specified minimum number of staff in on particular days. These days it seems to be you have to work around the 'needs of the business' and so whenever the busy period is for the employer you work for it is expected that you can't have time off. Pretty much seems to be the way businesses work these days, many places have a lot fewer staff than years gone by so when it is their busiest time of year everyone has to be in.
