Wimbledon Tennis 2007 accomadation

Anyone know any good accomadation for Wimbledon? Is Heathrow the nearest airport?

Comments

  • Heathrow is the nearest airport. This will be the 5th year that The Boss and I have won tickets in the ballot and we always stay in one of the Travelodges near Kings Cross Station. It's a fair way out from Wimbledon but it's easy to get there. I know there's one in Wimbledon but i've never stayed there.
This is my quest, to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Colliers Wood the last couple of years. It's a nice, clean hotel with big rooms and a good breakfast. Buses to the tennis run outside and are very frequent. Think we paid around £100 per night.

I live in Wimbledon and logistically Gatwick is easier than Heathrow.

Heathrow: Picadilly Line to Earls Court - District Line to Wimbledon - 1hr
Gatwick: Train to Clapham Junction - Clapham to Wimbledon - 40min max

There are shuttle buses from the station to the tennis and its also walkable in 20mins.

Accomodation - Wimbledon was booked up months ago, go for central London with access to Waterloo. Its 20min by train to Wimbledon.

Good luck & bring a brolly

While on the subject of wimbledon..... My partner usually go's up every year, but because I started a new job this year was out of the question.
He won tickets from the ballot, but offered them another club member....While searching through Ebay I found loads of tickets for sale ??
I thought this was not allowed ?
I have emailed the LTA , still waiting for answer ?
    I could of made a fortune :)
just want to know what to do next year....
I would love to be a Travel Agent :j

Tickets won in the ballot are not allowed to be sold - only debentures can be sold. I know Wimbledon organisers employ people to go through all ebay etc auctions to weed them out. I'm sure a year or two ago they published details of that on their website but I can't find it now.
