I still believe you cannot get any good quality speakers for £1.99 . I tried to find some reviews about the ones from WH Smith and nobody seems to like them. Most of the users mention that they are not even worth £1.99. I m surprised to see that people here like the sound quality. However everybody entitled to their own opinion. I more care about the sound quality then few extra pounds. Previously I used Xmini speakers and i was happy with them until they broke. While i was searching it on Amazon i came across the one i mentioned and tried it. It was the same but with some extra features such as Bluetooth and longer battery life. In terms of price/quality ratio betron one comes on the top of my list.

Yeah, i read those too. Hence why i wanted to know what people on here were using them with.

I actually ordered the WHSmith ones when they were first posted on here, but then i read some reviews and wasn't in a rush to pick them up.

I guess at £1.99, you can't go too wrong though...
but i'd prefer to pay a bit more for better quality and a product that will last longer.

it is because WH Smith dont have them in stock at the moment. On their website it says 1-2 week delivery. Could you please let me know whether they sound really good or not?

They are not even worth the £1.99 never mind the rrp of £9.99, my speaker on my mobile phone is better!

Got one a few weeks back when the rrp was something stupid like £15.00  total rubbish!

You have to be realistic when looking at portable speakers. I have had the following one for two years and use it all the time. The volume you can achieve is excellent for the size of the unit which is small but very solidly built. The quality of the long throw full range driver is also excellent but again it must be 2" so extended bass is not an option but place it against a wall and you will be surprised...

I would thoroughly recommend for quality, portability and durability!

Yes I agree with you Audiobore. Altec Lansing ones are very good and has some amazing reviews however the point i m trying to make is price/quality ratio with the one I mentioned seem to be better. Altec Lancing doesnt have bluetooth, it uses 3 x AAA size batteries which makes the unit bulkier and heavier. On the other hand the one i posted has a built in bluetooth, lighter, built in rechargable batteries and £2 cheaper.

We have a speaker called jam car and its really good. Just search on Amazon for "jam jar speaker" aand it comes up. Sound is great from it.
  • I got a HiFi Speaker from amazon, its sound quality really good, but the price a little high, it cost me 89.99. but it deserve i think. I do not think the cheap speaker will sound good enough. Any way, good luck.

I'm going to be charitable and assume you are just gullible. But these speakers were only sold for 60 pounds for about a day in the last six months. They are basic plastic bluetooth speakers that have been 14.99 for months and in fact have now gone up in price.

I bought one for my mothers birthday and somewhat regret it. I paid 14.99. It comes in a very nice cardboard box with a magnetic clasp. My mother can't open the device however as she is slightly arthritic and it really takes some grip to twist the speaker open. It then works and is louder than her tablet or netbook. Less clear though but adequate. It hisses a bit when nothing is playing. It connects to her tablet ok by bluetooth. Trying to get it to her netbook is so hit and miss that it is impractical so she just uses the cable.... The volume control does not work if it is connected by the cable.

So all in all it is chinese junk built down to a price and about adequate for 14.99 if you want nothing special and just want a cheap speaker that mostly works ok. The battery life is ok. It is not a rippoff at 14.99 but not a bargain either.

I somewhat wish I had spent a bit more on the gift and tried for a better one.

And the suggestion that it is a 60 pound speaker is wildly dishonest and really rather annoys me. I'm always rather mistrustful of things with that many amazon reviews, there is a lot of marketing going on somewhere...
