Obviously somebody in authority considers there to be an issue.....
which is surprising since it is widely accepted that immigration brings only benefits and no problems.
According to some on here anyway...

I don't think anyone objects to the government cracking down on illegal immigration.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

What if the landlords are illegal immigrants?0
-
This is just passing the buck. It will make no difference to anything. Already the idea is to shovel the requirement onto the letting agents, and letting agents are not regulated.0
-
Thats killed the shed rental business in Hounslow and Ealing then.0

All for cracking down on illegal immigration, but this should not be a task for landlords.
We could start fining butchers for selling cumberland sausages to illegals also?0 -
Seems fair enough when employers can be prosecuted for giving work to illegals.0

There's nothing wrong with passing the buck, especially if it means the job gets done and we don't have to pay for it. Contracts are already required so put in place a £1,000 fine for any contract agreed with an illegal immigrant. Doesn't matter if the agents are regulated or not.
That said it is pointless but for completely different reasons. If illegals can't get a contract themselves then they'll get them by getting a legal to apply, by using fake ID etc.
A lot of what the government is doing on immigration is pretty pointless but then it has to be seen to be doing something to try and pacify xenophobes
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -

Or shops for selling knives / alcohol / cigarettes to children!?
If that kind of madness takes off you soon wouldn't be able to buy car tax from the post office without having valid insurance; it's madness! Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -
UKBA in "not doing its own job if it can pass the buck" shock...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Some of those in the sheds are legal immigrants.
Unfortunately employers, landlords, businesses and others take advantage of people who while they may be able to speak and read English, don't know how this country functions.
Illegal immigrants are likely to either live with relations or room share.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
