Additional card holder with bad credit

Hello all. I activated my new credit card today and without thinking I gave the go ahead to add my partner as an additional card holder, I also gave permission for him to be able to handle the account over the phone and such.

My worry is the fact he is running from debt, will they run a credit check and is there a possibility they will now decline my card?

Any info would help me right now.

They normally will only do an ID check with the CRAs and not a credit check but ultimately each lender can make its own rules

I did it through Barclaycard and I really wish I hadn't, I feel sick with nerves. I'm an anxious person on the phone and don't think straight.

I only activated it 2 hours ago and have now cancelled it, will this avoid a credit check or is it too late.

They don't credit check additional card holders. They only sometimes check the ID. It also does not create a financial association.
