What card should we get?

in Credit cards
My DH has just started a new job where he will be commuting to London everyday.
We have decided it would be easiest for him to get a credit card to pay for his train ticket every day so we can keep track of how much it is costing and work out whether season tickets would be cheaper etc.
The card would be only used for train tickets and paid off in full every month.
What would be the best card for him to get?
Thank you

Assuming a lack of credit history, try his own bank, or failing that, aqua/Vanquis, Cap One.0

A card with the longest 0% on purchases I would have thought. Tesco are doing 16 months 0% currently.
As an aside, and an ex-rail commuter, a season ticket would always be cheaper.
With Southeastern, on a 12 month season ticket, the discount over 52 weekly tickets added up to 12 weeks free travel. Unless your OH gets more than 12 weeks off work per year it'll be cheaper.0 -

At the risk of sounding stupid would it not be eaisier for him to work out the daily cost of a train to London (can be done via web easily enough), times it by the ammount of times he would use the train in a season then work out a season ticket cost to see which is more viable.
Regarding a new ticket if you go for the season ticket option taking an Amex cashback card will give you cash back for a percentage of the transaction value. This is worth exploring as would reduce the ammount your OH is paying. I beleive you have a number of months from account opening with a higher cash back value rate.0 -
The problem is he works shifts, including weekends, so the daily prices can be anywhere between £33.50 to £13.20. If he is working a week of off peak shifts it works out cheaper than the season ticket prices.
We can only save money on a season ticket if we buy a year in advanced however we do not want to do this as we may be moving.

Santander 123 should give you 3% cashback on National Rail and TFL transactions.0

Ah right, might have been handy to mention that in your OP
