Excellent news for the housing market and wider economy.
Up 1.1% last month, up 1.3% in the 3m on 3m average, up 2% for the last 3 months versus the same 3 months a year earlier.
And up a whopping 3.6% for this April versus last April.
The price rises are accelerating.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

From today's Queen's speech
"My ministers will continue to prioritise measures that reduce the deficit – ensuring interest rates are kept low for homeowners and businesses"
"New arrangements will be put in place to help more people own their own home, with government support provided for mortgages and deposits"
Will these statements in the Queen's speech reduce house prices in the long term?0 -
Unfortunately wages aren't rising too!0

I have a dream. Professional institutional companies own and rent out properly maintained properties using trained tradesmen with years of apprenticeship. The councils have council tax funding an army of inspectors to enforce standards.
Work force mobility, without all the conveyancing, mortgaging, agent commission. Long term rental with no insecurity of tenure. The cashflow can be used to build more housng, as well as provide annuities for pension plans. Pension companies can buy a block of flats instead of bonds to back annuities, since they provide a better yield than bonds currently.0
