Rubbish. I've never left a balance on a card and never had any cards closed or limits reduced in 10 years.0 -
I use my Post Office card very rarely and the balance is usually zero.
Just recently I booked a holiday in the USA, which meant paying a US company. To reduce charges I used my Post Office card. The payment was initially declined until I called them and they explained that the card hadn't been used for a while, so they needed to check!
So, the Post Office are happy for me to sit with a limit of £10,000 or so, but then check when I want to use it. It was no big issue for me.
Seems they are happy to let the card sit in your pocket0 -

Read my original post again as you have misunderstood.
I clearly stated that dormant accounts will ultimately result in a credit limit reduction and or account closure. CC companies tend to do this to dormant accounts to free up capital and reduce exposure.
Carrying a small balance on a account will greatly improve the chances of getting a decent credit limit if CC limit is low. This strategy is not usually needed for accounts with high credit limits.0 -
Well, people who are after stoozing benefiting from CC offer do this all the time. They even push it to the limit to optimise profit from stoozing .....
But people who are doing stoozing will normally have a good credit records. By this way they could keep getting a deal in a new credit cards offer. And they will make sure that the will clear the balance when the interest or fee is about to be charged.
So it will depend on people circumstance.plumber2009 wrote: »Another no no is using a high proportion of your credit limit. Never ever spend or carry a balance over 50% of your credit limit.0 -
Closest i have come to having a card closed on me was with Lloyds TSB. They wrote to me a few months before the expiry date on my CC and asked, as I hadnt used it for a while did i want to keep it open. They said I should either use it or phone them to say I wanted to keep it open. I used it for a purchase or two and was sent a renewal card.
Fair enough of them to say that0
