Problem with builder. Where to go from here?

Honestly? No!
. The link seems to be asking me to sign in to something to be able to see it. Does the host not provide you with a "forum code" for the image? But in the meantime:
Ah OK. So look again at your plan. Look at this picture of a Howdens tall cab (not not necessarily exactly like yours) and see where the infill panel is that I mentioned previously:Howdens have said they supplied all standard doors etc and he exchanged themfor the doors that have been fitted.
Your plan should show such a panel in the same place. Yes?
He's made a bog of it frankly. From the small pic I'll bet he's he's got the shelf that the oven sits on wrong to start with and its snowballed from there. There was probably no need to change the doors for the ones he has fitted from the ones that were supplied. However, sometimes the internal defence mechanism says very loudly - "they must have sent the wrong doors, it can't be anything I've done" Trouble is he's allowed that mindset to dig himself even deeper in the hole. The gap under the oven is big enough to fit my finger in

Sorry I'm on my phone so struggling with the images. Will have to sort out later. The plan shows the oven lining up with the worktop and the panel going above the oven. He refuses to admit he's wrong. Originally it was our fault as the oven isn't a howdens one apparently. Now it's our fault because we changed the plan.0

OK No worries. I'm off out in a mo with an armful of envelopes that the PO is going to charge me a small fortune to get delivered. The point of the panel is that it gives flexibility for slightly different sized ovens. It shouldn't make any difference where you got the oven and it seems he changed the plan by having it too high.Sorry I'm on my phone so struggling with the images. Will have to sort out later. Even from the small pic it looks wrong because it is wrong. He's not seeing it because he doesn't want to. Its prolly an hour or two's work to fix. Sounds like he's spent an equivalent amount of time thus far arguing about it. So, if he's being that pig headed I think you might like to take the precaution of asking a Howdens manager round to inspect and mediate. Its their rep on the line too don't forget. He refuses to admit he's wrong. Originally it was our fault as the oven isn't a howdens one apparently. Now it's our fault because we changed the plan.

Right! I've had another go at sorting out these pictures. I've taken a few photos today which show the cornice has been replaced by a cut piece (not even cut in a straight line, unfortunately).
The full album is here:

The photo I was trying to show earlier is this one
Hope this is big enough now.
As the bottom edge of the cut piece above the oven is unfinished, might the heat from the oven cause the coating to come off?0 -
Just received an invoice from him for the outstanding balance. I guess that means he thinks he's done. I replied to say I will be sending him a letter. Any tips on what I should include? Going to send it recorded delivery or is this OTT?0

Hi southcoast,
Why do you think the oven is sitting on plywood? It looked to us like it was sitting on the supplied shelf.
The protective plastic is still on as they advised us not to take it off. I appreciate it will be difficult to remove some of the plastic now!
@Keystone - would Howdens be interested in what's going on? We found the builder ourselves and he sourced the kitchen from them. I didn't think they'd care but I will contact them if you think it's worth it.0 -
