Hi All,
I have purchased 7 windows form Crystal Windows and it is been fitting right now. But up to now I did not knew the joining method for transom and mulling using is mechanical rather than moulding/welding. The sample they shown did not had any transom and mulling so I thought it would have been same as their frame, which is moulded/welded together. I did not think it would be mechanical because the frame is moulded/welded together. Right now I am unhappy bourses my old window which was nearly 15 years old were also Mechanical joint and one of the resone I change it to new because I did not liked it.
What can I do?
Thanks
Ruwee

Stop looking on here and talk to them, they are the ones fitting them right now so stop them and ask them the relevant questions.

Personally I don't have a scooby what you are talking about.

Hi, I had Crystal quote a few days ago, when asked they stated the windows would be welded..

Is this not the case? They are pushing me for a decision so would be interested to find out how you get on

    Hi,

I have been trying to call them and left a massage to the managers to call me back, still waiting.
They made a crack on the frame when drilling. The fitter advised me they will have to replace the frame for a new and waiting for a replacement date.

The frame is welded but not the transom and mulling, they are mechanically joint. I would rather go for weld joint, but too late now for me. So check with them. And let us know what they have to say.

    Hi,
I got a call after complaining and sending an email.

Reply is below. Also I got the Crack Window Frame changed this morning. Crystal Windows Customer service seems to be ok. Not Perfect. But Good.

Though after seen and been installed in my house I THINK (only my view), product is not brilliant, Frames are Welded but not the transom and mulling (I think weld joint are far better than Mechanical joint), inner beading are not perfectly fits. Also locking system is average, could lot better.

Before you buy please go to the showroom and clarify everything and see you like the product and know what you get. I did not go to the show room; just seen only a sample and I thought most of them are standard these days. Big Mistake, too late to change now. Most of the online review I seen was good. May be others do not care about any of these.

Reply form Crystal Window Customer service -

"We have no issues with our jointing, uPVC expands at 6 times the rate of mild steel and flexibility within the structure is useful at avoiding cracking, distortion and failure.

With regards the crack made by the fitter, I apologise that you have had to call several times and not received a reply, this is extremely poor service on our part, it leads to customer dissatisfaction and ultimately creates extra work for others, accordingly your email has been immediately forwarded to XXXXXXX our installations manager for his immediate attention.

Thank you for your valued custom"

I went to the showroom, the 4 corners of the frame are welded, but everything else is a mechanical joint.

I rang the following day and cancelled the job.

I'm now looking at triple glazing....

    Crystal Windows
It has been nearly two months after installing at my place, I can see the sealant they used is very poor, and all the sealant has started go off colour. Actually they used cheap CAULK rather than silicon sealant. Also the main other problem I see is the dust and dirt started to stuck in inner beading and the gap between them has increased because they were not perfectly fits.
Also the beading between window and frame come off very quickly, I have to mend it couple of times, and they do not shut properly.
I feel the total product is very poor.
So, whoever look in this forum please look carefully what you get and do not fall into sales man’s tricks.
