Missing documents, presumed lost in post

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I'm not sure which is the most appropriate board - mods, please move if your feel appropriate.

I applied for a BTL mortgage back in March on a property that I already owned, so the process was pretty simple. The BS requested original documents (P60, bank statements, wage slips etc.) and I sent them by RMSD. The mortgage has now completed and these documents have not been returned to me. I have rung and they say they returned them in the post (no tracking).

I can replicate everything by downloading the bank statements from my on-line banking for reference and as I do the payroll for the company I work for, I have access to the office copy of my P60 and wage slips.

I am very concerned about ID theft - is there anything I can do or need to do?

If you own a property but are not in actual residence then it may be worth considering our online FAQs on the subject.

Ensuring that you are registered and that we have up to date address(es) for you is one thing to consider - if someone not represented by a conveyancer for example should lodge an application to change the register etc then we should serve notice on you at the address(es) shown on the register.
