Anti Perforation Warranty

Just a wee heads up for some people.
I'm claiming on my Kia's anti perforation warrant due to some signs of blistering on the rear door.
The guy at the garage asked to see my service book which I handed over. I never thought much of it as it was up to date on servicing but he said I wouldn't be covered as the anti perforation check had been missed last year!
I didn't know what he was on about. He explained a lot of manufacturers insist on yearly anti perforation checks on their cars now to maintain the warranty. There's a separate part on the service book that needs to be stamped every year.
He did admit privately it was probably another dodge by the manufacturers to get out of their responsibility.
So just make sure yours is up to date and apparently its only the dealership that can carry out these checks.
I've managed to get mine stamped for last year ;-) but I had some hassle.

Hyundai (so i'd assume kia is the same) do actually specify this in their bumf about the 5 year "triple care" offering.

Yes but I bought the car second hand and I wasn't aware of this as I'm sure many others aren't either.
I'm also curious if it can be challenged that it has to be inspected by the dealership. Didn't they they try this with servicing and lose in court?0 -
Its not cheap for the bodywork inspection either, But it picks up on stone chips in the paintwork that may cause rust later on.
From what you said its not been inspected by anyone never mind the dealership. If the bodywork had been inspected within their guidelines then you may have a case but it has not.

Most anti-perforation warranties specify that the rust has to create a hole from an inside cavity to the exterior and create a hole through the metal.
Your case seems to be surface rust patches or surface blistering which could be due to paint defects or simply bodywork damage from external elements. The man without a signature.0
