Can anything be done for injury weeks after event?

Hiya,
I'm not asking for medical advice as I know it's not allowed and I know only a dr can tell me if its broken just a curious question really and I don't want to be wasting people's time....

I bent my finger right back about 6 weeks ago, it really hurt but didn't swell or anything so didn't do anything about it at the time, anyway it's hurt on and off since , then at the weekend my finger swelled up a bit but I managed to get my rings on.. Woke this morning and its throbbing and I can hardly move it.

Wondering weather it would be worth nipping to the walk in centre or is it a bit late to worry now considering it was 6weeks ago, I hate wasting people's time especially as its only a finger and I can bend it etc its just the knuckle area that's a bit sore..

Thanks x

    Hi OP,

I can't believe you're asking this - "it's throbbing and I can hardly move it" tells me you need it checked. Get down there and stop worrying about wasting people's time!

I don't think you'll be wasting anyone's time by going to a walk in center. Its what its there for!
It may only be a finger but its causing you pain after 6 weeks and for that reason I'd get it checked out.
Otherwise you run the risk of it just getting worse.

  • Lol thanks... I think I'm a bit worried about them saying for goodness sake it's ony a finger, get a grip (pardon the pun)

I shall get myself ready and pop down in a bit.. Thank you again

Don't worry they won't say that.

The amount of times I've panicked and taken DS when he's been ill only for him to make a full recovery by the time we are there. Now thats embarrassing LOL when they ask whats wrong and hes just sitting there laughing and all you can say is he 'was' ill.

At least you actually have a problem so you wont be time wasting. For all you know there could be a small fracture which could be sorted in a few weeks :) x

Embarrassing is when you take your hysterical toddler daughter to A&E are her Dad has dislocated her elbow. You then pop it back in whilst trying to get her out of the car. Even more embarrassing is when you are trying to leave someone's house and DD has a paddy and drops to floor whilst you're holding her hand. Thus dislocating her other elbow. You then shamefacedly trot off to A&E and see all your colleagues whilst you wait to get sorted. Floppy joints, aargh!

Go definatley, I fell in a pothole a couple of weeks ago now, I went over on my ankle it really hurt but didn't think I had done anything two days later I was in agony so went to the walk in center it turns out that I've snapped ligaments in my foot which have also broke a piece of bone off :(

I'm now in a cast which I have to have on for the next 3 weeks.

    It's worth getting checked out.
