Buyer still not paid ? Acceptable waiting time?

I sold an item on Saturday but it hasn't been paid for. I've allowed for bank holiday and contacted them yesterday asking if they still wanted as happy to relist if they didn't. Reply was it had to go through firms account and would be done yesterday. Still haven't received payment and I do ask for payment within 48 hours. How long is it acceptable to wait or do I just relist? Thanks.

if you have stated 48 hours in the listing then I would have thought you would be fine to relist or offer a second chance offer. However this might be a pain as to get your final value fees you may have to open up an unpaid case which will waste a few days. It may be better to firmly and politely remind the buyer of your policy of 48 hours. I think Ebay say 4 days before you can open up an unpaid case, I would hold out as at least they are replying to you and after all you want their money!

Thanks for a quick reply. I am happy to wait although one of those scenario's where I was hoping to have got more but I'm happy with money I should get!

Ebay have now changed their unpaid dispute option to open as early as day 2 , so you can open it now if you want. Then it can be closed 4 days later and the item relisted at that point.

However, it is unusual to see 'terms' requiring payment that quickly in an auction, so if you chose to tell them they had to pay within 48 hours you must have some sort of plan to enforce that surely, otherwise what was the point of putting it on the auction? If you don't really need payment in 48 hours then take it off the listing.

99% of the items I've bought have had payment within 48hours or 2 days or immediate stated so it's normal to me. I always pay within a couple of hours myself. No plan whatsoever in mind. If they didn't want it I'd just relist it on the free weekend listing coming up.

Many thanks for the information re dispute option though :).
