in Credit cards
Nice letter from Capital One to say I'm pre-selected (not quite the same as pre-approved) for their bad-credit card. Horrendous API, no cashback, no 0% BT, bottom of the range. Not even the slightly-better card for people who've improved a bit since the CCJs.
What does this mean?
And just when I was looking at their Elite card with the concierge service.

It means you are on their targeted mailing list, nothing more. When I had a judgement (later reversed) I was receiving 4+ 'rebuilder' CC letters every week wanting me to take their product. Even in distress, someone want's you!0

I had one of these too. My credit files are squeaky clean so I certainly don't need my credit rebuilding.
I had a balance transfer card with them about 8 years ago, all paid off, no late payments.
So, it means nothing other than you are on their mailing list.0 -

You're on the mailing list,
rip it up and post it back to them, this usually stops them sending more.0 -
Definitely a mailing list.
I get pre-approved letters from Aqua to help re-build my credit rating.
Well I have been accepted in the past couple of years for Lloyds and M&S cards and I have cards from Virgin, Natwest, Halifax & Barclaycard as well.
So that would suggest, my credit rating can't be that bad, that I need to re-build it.0 -
Nah, I'm waiting to see if I'm pre-selected to be on the mailing list for the Elite card. Then I'll know it's random.rip it up and post it back to them, this usually stops them sending more."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. I get junk mail addressed to me from everyone from Vanquis and Aqua, through to Virgin Atlantic Card and American Express.
I don't think it means anything.0 -
I received an application on a weekly basis at one point for this card, I opened the first and shredded it and didn't bother to open the rest. Eventually did open the rest just in case and they were all the same. I then wrote on the application forms in permanent marker pen "Please remove me from your mailing list" and posted all 4 of them to their "priority applications" department. Never received another since.0
