Why can't customers admit they are in the wrong

Sold some wooden nest tables in a listing with three variations in colour. This morning had a 'item not as described' case opened as I apparently had sent the wrong colour. A quick check at the purchase record and a photo from the customer confirmed the correct tables were sent.

It seems the customer made the purchase without checking the full listing showing the colour of the tables with the product name.

The customer is now accusing me altering the listing when a quick check would show no changes have been made to the listing.

I advised the customer to return the tables and the colour they wanted will be sent at no extra cost. The customer continues to insists I collect the item as it's not their fault.

Not sure how to proceed with this as the customer has already hinted her feedback will be based on whether the tables are collected or not.

With collection and sending a replacement I will be making a loss on the sale but at the same time i'm fearful of losing my 100% feedback.

Feedback extortion is taken very seriously by eBay. Any such feedback will be removed if she is threatening for financial gain.

Stick to your guns, I don't think it would have been possible to alter a listing after it had closed. You have proof the customer has what they won. The only caveat might be is if you are a business seller and if the tables were buy it now. This still wouldn't mean you would have to pay for the return of the item though as they are not faulty.
