Temporary car insurance for a new driver

Evening all,
I'm taking part in an European road trip this summer from Edinburgh to Rome (search Facebook for Volvecto1 and The Juke). One of the other teams is made up of 2 drivers, 1 aged 27 and 1 aged 25. The 25 year old only passed her test today and they are struggling to find a temporary car insurance policy which covers new drivers.
Any suggestions welcome....

Why must it be 'temporary' ? Get the car owner to add him as a named driver. If the car is not registered to him, many will not provide cover.0

They only wanted temporary cover as the car is likely to be killed off after the trip. I suppose getting a normal policy and just cancelling it is the way forward?0

Passed today and european cover. a big OUCH i think.
Hire a chauffeur, Seriously it could be cheaper.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
But we're only driving around Paris including the Arch de Triomphe, and then through Rome haha.
We'll see what we can do, being a named driver on a full policy should be achievable...0 -
Hi all,
Can anyone give me some advise on how to insure my old car cheaply just for the purpose of prospective buyers taking it for a test drive over the next couple of weeks?
I have changed my insurance over to my new car, so the old one is no longer insured.
Any help would be very appreciated.0
