Car insurance quotes once reffered by MoneySuperMarket.com

Hi all,
Today, after receiving my renewal quote from my current car insurer, i decided to use the MSE method of getting the cheapest quote.
Having followed all of those steps i decided that to go with the first quote given by MoneySuperMarket.com which was with Octagon Insurance.
Octagons standard insurance quote was as listed on the MoneySuperMarket website as being £489.13 (paid monthly).
However, to complete this quote you are directed to the Octagon website and you are given a run down of the details provided, upon which your quote is based.
All of the details were correct and exactly the same as they were on MoneySuperMarket.com yet somehow, the price leapt up from the £489.13 as originally quoted, to £593.02.
Having got this new quote i checked, and rechecked, all of the details and recalculated.
Again i got the upper figure.
I can't understand why there is over £103 more being quoted for the same details. Especially when it states on its advertising that "You won't get it cheaper than going direct"
I decided to leave it for a while and then re-quoted with MoneySuperMarket.com AFTER i had cleared all cookies from my web browser.
It must have been almost 3 hours later when i went through my details again and got more quotes.
Amazingly, and unsurprisingly, Octagon came up again as being the cheapest and the figure was exactly the same.
Going through the process of buying the insurance and again, Octagons quote was the exact same figure as before.
Now, i know that there are laws which prevent shops/stores from offering products at low prices when there are none to be had at such a price, and then for those stores to offer a more expensive alternative.
Surely there must be something in place for insurers too?
I feel that this is exactly what is happening here and it isn't the first time i've had such an experience.
I've emailed the company asking them what the reasons are for this. And i know i will get some sort of bull about how a comparison site doesn't take into account certain factors that their site does.
To which i will call them out on such lies as their site especially asks no more, or less, than what MoneySuperMarket.com' website asks.
Do any of our resident insurance experts know what's going on here?

Maybe there's devine intervention telling you not to Insure with Octagon.
I'm a mere mortal and I can tell you avoid Octagon they're an awful company who you will regret going with if you have a claim0 -
This is the problem with all the comparison websites they display one price then when you actually go though onto the website of the company it suddenly says a different price and trys to add loads of sneeky extras.
The other problem is when doing quotes online like that your doing an unassisted quote, meaning you are the only one responsible for entering the correct details, which very often is not right.
You know how when your entering the job and it never seems to have your job description, this is where speaking to an insurance advisor on the phone works much better, they know which is the best job title to pick depending on what you tell them.
Also when it comes to class of use, most people don't actually understand the different classes and often pick the wrong one, where as talking to an adviser they will be able to select the right one for your use.
By all means use them as a guide, though often that's not even good enough because if your comparing a quote that's just social domestic and pleasure (What you think you need) compared to Class 2 (What the adviser told you to have) then its not a fair comparison anyway.
Always always get on the phone to a couple of brokers of your choice to get a quote they will ask you what your best price is and search the market for you and also get discounted rates for you to match the best price you have where possible.
Personally I like these brokers for different reasons:
