Barclaycard 25 month 0% card - Transfer to current account fail!

Last week I applied for the (currently joint second on this site) 0% balance transfer card - Barclaycard platinum 25 month 0% interest. During the application, I was asked what account I'd be transferring to, and how much. I entered my current account and was informed that I was good to go.
After activating my card, and heading onto the online banking part, there's no trace of that transfer I requested during the application, and the online section says that transfers to current accounts are not available on this card. I couldn't (and still can't) find anything in the terms that state that this is only for credit card to credit card transfers. Customer service apologised and just said it's no good for that kind of transfer, and that they can't see the transfer I requested during the application.
After a frustratingly circular conversation with the cancellations department (who essentially said 'hold on to your card and maybe one day you'll get that deal you want') I've now cancelled the card. I'm concerned that this will have dented my previously excellent credit rating, as I'd like to apply again for a card that can definitely do transfers to current accounts.
Any idea what kind of footprint this would leave on my credit rating? What cards definitely can do these transfers to current accounts? I feel pretty stupid, because I've had one of these cards before and I didn't have this problem back then!

mbna does (amazon, virgin)Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

MBNA/Virgin do money transfers.
Evidence from previous threads on here suggest that Barclaycard very rarely allow money transfers despite it being there (but unavailable) when you go online and do a BT.
Not sure what you actually filled in when you did the original application, but it may be that the website took the information but when it was actioned it didn't fit in with the profile that a BT takes (card number, expiry date).
You will have a full search on your file and as and when BC update the monthly run the new account will be visible.0 -
Thanks for the tips. Well, it's cancelled now so I'm hoping it won't show as a live account for long. I wonder if it's worth applying for an MBNA one before the Barclaycard appears on my file?
Obviously waiting some time would be preferable before applying again, but if this won't destroy my white suited credit rating, it's worth it. I could really use this transfer in the next couple of weeks.0 -
Only the God of credit scoring truly knows the answer, but if I was you I'd go for it. Others may have good reasons to give opposite advice though!

Please don't say Experian et al.

You doubt the validity of the 'white suit' credit rating?0 -
You doubt the validity of the 'white suit' credit rating?
I could be persuaded otherwise though, for example if Experian et al issued credit cards and provided overdraft and loan facilities I'd take them very seriously.
Since I've answered your question, care to answer mine? (even though we both know the answer I'd like to hear you say it )0 -

You got me! I genuinely have no idea what my actual credit rating is - I've never checked, and was always under the impression that it's not wise to unless you actually need to. The 'white suit' grading is self-awarded for having not missed a payment and not been turned down for a card so far. I forget that 'excellent' may actually be a real rating term, granted to the very few - perhaps after years of physical and mental preparation under the supervision of Shaolin monks.
Anyway, I bit the bullet and applied for the MBNA Platinum fella that gives 24 months 'money transfer' (obviously the keywords I should have been looking out for in the first place) at 0%. I've been accepted (no doubt by the very skin of my white suit) - thanks for the headsup Cell.
YorkshireBoy, I tip my hat to your Maverick P.I. style credit investigative skills.0 -
