Studio Catalogue

Hi!

sorry I don't know if I've posted this in the right forum.

Basically I have an account with Studio, the most I've ever gotten it to was around £300 or less, never above it, last year I started to have problems paying and so I sorted out a payment plan and offered to pay the £15 a month which I have been doing.

Now last month I looked at my balance and was like "What the hell why hasn't the amount gone down by much??" I checked the statements and noticed they've been charging me about £7 a month for "Service charges", I've tried disputing this with them and they keep dropping the same old crap "minimum payment is 2.9%, if you pay by Direct Debit it's 2.0%" I've told them over and over that I'm not on a minimum payment and also asked for a Direct Debit mandate but was told I can't pay by DD because I'm on a payment plan ARGH!!! I feel like I'm banging my head off of a wall.

I've totally lost the plot with them, I wasn't rude but I told them I wanted my account passing onto a debit collection agency because the amount I pay will come off of the balance and that I wasn't going to keep throwing my money down the toilet, other companies like Shop Direct and Fashion World can do it, because I have a mental illness I'm with a specialist team with SD, if I pay late they don't put charges on and they don't charge me interest, same as Fashion World who will charge me if I pay late.

Does anyone have any advice in regards to Studio? I've tried explaining things to them and telling them that I suffer mentally but no help at all.

It's not that I don't want to pay them, its that I'm paying them and they are taking £7 of it for bs.

It is shocking that people lend you money and not only want it back but want the interest as well!

Can you not pay more than the £15 a month?

Not quite sure I follow this, as £15 is 5% at least if outstanding balance is less than £300, so therefore above minimum payment. Is the £7 an interest payment, and if so what is the monthly rate of interest on the outstanding balance? If it is a fixed charge, does it comply with the terms and conditions you agreed to?

If the OP could pay more than £15 a month, I'm sure they'd be doing that. It's the lowest form of wit, you know.

I'm already paying them more than what I was lol.

Ok so my balance is now £238.92 - they have charged me yet again £7.16 for "service charges"

I'll try and show you a screenshot of the statement.

All they keep blabbing on about is this 2.9% on my balance if I pay the minimum charge when I'm not paying the minimum I'm on a payment plan. They won't even let me pay by DD because I'm on a plan which would then drop it to 2.0%.

Can I do anything about this because this is taking the pee really and I just feel like I'm going to be stuck paying them for the next how long!

I just got a reply from their customer service saying it was interest and they won't remove it and won't respond to my emails anymore (because I am disputing it).

If it is "interest" it should change month by month as the balance goes down. I believe that you are also entitled to know what rate of interest you are being charged and how the cost is worked out.

They keep saying it's 2.9% they really aren't much help at all. Like I said if I paid by direct debit it would be 2.0% but they won't let me pay by DD because I'm on a plan lol. It's really stupid and annoying. I really just want rid of them now. I was considering not paying them so they pass it to a Debt company. I really don't care about it going on my credit record.

I can find nothing on their website about "interest" but maybe I can only find out by registering, which I am certainly not going to do. If it helps their "customer care line" number of 0871 200 0378 (ludicrously expensive, especially from a mobile) can also be reached on 01254 302204 (according to saynoto0870) and is open until 10pm so you should be able to ring them for free or cheaply.

Trust me, they aren't going to help, I've been disputing this for the past two or three months. Wish I never told them I moved now LOL.
