I have an Epson SX340W printer. Until now I have used the epson replacement inks, but a friend also with an epson printer gave me the name of a company who supply compatable cartridges.
I have just changed the black ink as it was empty now the printer refuses to accept the cartridge......its driving me dotty, I just cannot afford £49 for a new set of inks every time.:mad:
Is there a way I can override the printer settings and use the compatable cartridges.
I hate the damn printer with a passion, it is so damn finicky worse than a baby being weaned:rotfl: but I just cannot afford to buy another one. Apart from which they all seem to be the same the replacement inks cost a fortune.

This might work, and as long as you are careful, won't make it worse. Did it on one of my printers when none of the cartridges were recognised.
Use a knife, blunt side towards the cartridge, and run it down the chip a couple of times, try the cartridge.
Does it display a box which says the cartridge isn't genuine, but with the option to continue anyway?
Have you asked the supplier, as the cartridge could be faulty
You could also insert the cartridge, see if it is accepted, if not, simply lift it up a bit then push it down again, though don't bother with this if it doesn't accept it after a few goes.
Jet Tec are reliable and available from UKDVDR though the postage is prohibitive.0 -
If you bought a "compatible" cartridge that was being sold as such then it should work so you must take it up with the supplier."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0

I have a continuous ink system in my Epson, spent about £90 in ink in past 6 years. I print every day and once a year do a print run over 1000. If you can find one it's worth it's weight in gold!0

Tried that did not work, it still tells me it does not recognize the cartridge. I am really getting brassed off with the thing.
Any other suggestions????
I cannot afford to throw a way £20's worth or more of cartridges.0 -
Sorry ..no. I have to say ,it took me a while to get it to work...maybe 3 or 4 attempts accompanied by swearing, headbashing etc.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -

Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
