How much do you pay for Gas + Electricity?

Hi,

Just wondered roughly what other people in similar households are paying on average monthly for Gas and Electricity?

We're 2 adults in a (small) 4-bed semi.

Never changed suppliers (from British Gas) but now wondering if we're paying too much.

Thanks!

The best way to see if you're paying too much is to put your details into a comparison site like uswitch. Since you've never changed supplier I'd say it is a certainty that you are!

Use your bills to work out annual Kwh usage, that will tell you a lot more than tariff & payments - use that on the price comparison sites to work out where the best tariff would be for use..

Too misleading to go off what other people pay - so much is down to the house (insulating) and the rest personal preference - how warm do you like it and what high use appliances do you have (tumble drier etc)...

If you are on BG Standard tariff, as seems likely, then yes you are-Standard is always the supplier's most expensive tariff.

Thanks - put my details into uswitch and it said we could save 12% with Scottish power, so will look into that.

check if theres cashback available via Quidco or one of the many that pay the cashback to you, rather than having Uswitch pocket the referral...

Think theres about £42 available from there..

You just want a basic idea of what other people pay ! My house is 3 bed semi with three people ( two teenagers that shower a lot). My costs are £41 per month for gas and £37 for elec. Hope that helps
