Massive water bill - should tenants pay?

Ahhhh, I remember my uni days. We once got a gas bill of £750 - for a single quarter (this was quite a long time ago). There was no mysterious gas leak and all our neighbours hadn't tapped into our gas supply, there was a very simple explanation - one of my housemates regulated the temperature of the house via the windows rather than the boiler. Our inefficient boiler would be running 24hrs a day with all the windows wide open in the middle of winter.0

...thanks for your replies. Am chasing my daughter for info. I believe the £950 was for 3 months but need to confirm.0

Wowsers - is one of her housemates running a Laundry Service to make some extra cash? £950 for a quarter is a lot of drips.0

Quite often water bills are charged over a shorter period (such as six months) for a full year's estimated use. So just make sure they understand the distinction. Admittedly that's more common for properties billed on rates rather than meters.0

EDIT - thought it was for a year, not a quarter....."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Well it looks like someone else's Dad is sorting this one out. I'll leave it up to him...
Thanks to all for replies/comments.0 -
Thanks for the update.
If you do find out the outcome it would be interesting to know.
Well done Dads but just remember you can't sort out your kids lives for ever!0
