Anyone familiar with Tattenham Corner area

Hi,

I am in the process of 2nd viewing a property very close to Tattenham corner station (less than a mile away). I did some search online and it seems to be a nice suburban area but would be great to have some input (positive and negative) from people who live nearby or have knowledge about the area.

Any comment is highly appreciated:beer:

I use to work near there and all I learnt is that if you want to take the train to anywhere use Epsom station as the trains from Tattenham Corner take a very long time.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • Agree with Olly about trains - from Epsom there are services to both Waterloo and Victoria if you're heading to London. At present Epsom doesn't fall in the London zones, but there are moves afoot to include it in Zone 6 at some stage. A pleasant area - reasonable shops, a cinema and theatre in the town centre, and lots of countryside for walking.

Thanks for the two inputs about commuting. Very useful to know.
Anyone knows about other factors apart from commuting?

    Thanks.

the main thing I can think of is the racecourse. It wont be just Derby day that causes traffic chaos, there will be others too. And they used to also have evening concerts up there too, not sure if they still do this.
Of course the above can be an advantage too!!!

And the downs are lovely on a Summers day to walk over.

You really need to be able to drive as public transport is rubbish. trains already mentioned but buses are a bit hit and miss too.

Unfortunately I only know the commuting aspects and that there is a golf course. I can't remember any shops apart from a rare newsagent and cafe as everything was in Epsom town centre.

I forgot to add that there are London Buses in the area - there was one very infrequent route serving Tattenham Corner - you can use your Oyster card on them as the London Buses count as zone 6 even though the train station doesn't.

Thanks again but I am pretty sure that the train station is within zone 6. I just checked the latest train and tube map.:D

Tattenham Corner is Zone 6 - Epsom is not.

    Thanks.
