Reasonable time to look for property

If you've accepted an offer on your property and there is chain ready to move on and it all hinges on you, how long would buyers wait?
We're concerned that as we're relocating it may take us a while to find our next home. We have already made 2 trips to our desired county with another planned tomorrow. If we don't find anywhere within say a month, should I pull out to be fair to the people behind me?
Our property literally sold overnight so I'm quite confident on further interest.

No, definitely not. You can't just assume that you are being fair by pulling out.
No one wants to hang around, but presumably your buyers know the situation and have accepted that?
Try and get your purchase sorted ASAP and it is up to your buyers to decide when they've had enough of waiting...0 -

what did you mean by your comment in bold?
yes we told them we are relocating and back to the area this week but I don't want to buy something just for the sake of it - as you can understand. They told me that the chain behind them want to complete by August (of course no-one can plan this just yet) but it's already set me into panic mode.0 -
Would you consider selling, renting for say a year, then buying? That would put you in a favoured buying position too, as well as taking the pressure off.

I mean that your timetable of a month seems to be based on this being a 'fair' amount of time to make your buyers wait.
It is really up to them to decide what is 'fair' (ie. what is acceptable to them) and it is up to them to pull out if they feel it is for the best.
I'm saying don't try to make that decision for them. Keep looking and only offer/buy if you find something you are really keen on. Look after numero uno.0 -

Yes you're right. I was just worried that if surveys etc are carried out and we had to pull if we couldn't find anything, would we have to reimburse them?0 -
