Been on the phone to Aviva, they were surprised we were not renewing car insurance but had taken out a new policy - with them!
erm... exactly same details but new policy £20 cheaper (new policy discount?) plus Topcashback £60 (which paid out fine last year when we did the same)
For £80 I don't care how surprised they are :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You can choose to surprise them next year or not !:DThe comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

It does make me laugh how they seem confused that you have looked around and have not simply renewed with the renewal rate they send out automatically.
I am shocked in fact so many just renew their insurance without looking round or negotiating a better deal.0 -
Phoned my insurance company the other day, to discuss prices. We go through the same every year. I find a much better price online than the one they offer for automatic renewal. I call, they drop their price to one that I'm happy with, and I stay with them.
The difference is that usually they tell me that they can match the price I've found online, or at least give me a big enough price drop to make it worthwhile not going through the hassle of switching.
This time, his exact words after finding out that I'd found cheaper prices elsewhere were 'I can offer you a loyalty discount'. Bad choice of words. If I've been with the same company for many years, and they always make me go to the effort of calling to get a fair price, and I do it every year because I like them enough to go to the effort to stick with them, then I shouldn't have to call for a LOYALTY discount.
I know it's just a word, but really?!0 -
I wont be renewing with aviva - a phone call to let them know some personal changes that would affect the policy just cost me £5.38! And they charged us a load extra anyway. Not happy.0

£5.38 does not sound like a lot to make changes to the policy
But if you are not happy withe what they are charging you then switch insurer.0
