The only thing that works for our house in the kitchen is the Ant Bait traps, I have them down all year and replace every couple of months. Tried all sorts of other things over the years and these are the best in my opinion.

I bought a pack of the ant bait stations yesterday, I've put one down in the hallway and one in the kitchen. They were going nutty for the hall one yesterday and I couldn't spot any this morning, sure they'll be back at it later on though.

Felt a bit bad putting it down, but there were loads of them coming in. Seems to be the easiest option around pets.

Thanks for all the replies :)

Look at any house plants, I once could not find where the ants were coming from for ages. Then I left a glass of apple juice out one night in the morning there was trail of ants back to the nest in a large plant pot.

    Get these:

    (sorry, can't post clickable links)

Pets cant get into them and ants will take the poison back to the nest, killing them at source.

Agreed, we get these from Homebase:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Home-Defence-Stop-Bait-Station/dp/B00187TTK6

They have stuff in that ants carry back to their nest, and it kills them there so destroys the nest.

We noticed some in our utility room recently. Put a bait station down in the room and another outside the back door. No sign of ants within a few days.

No harm would come to pets unless they broke the station open - all the chemicals are contained inside it. I wouldn't want to use ant powder inside the house personally.

They worked - no more ants! Can't believe how quick it was to get rid of them.

How do you know the trail wasn't from the nest to the glass:rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously though, it is a good tip, most insects can't turn their noses up to a sugary drink;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

When we have problems with ants we use Nippon, can be bought in powder or liquid, use with traps so it's not washed away.
