The Albufeira Old Town is lovely, lots of bars and restaurants close to the beach.

The Albufeira New Town (aka "The Stip") is a craphole full of Club 18-30 bars.

If I remember correctly there is a bus that would take you into Albufeira, but i suggest asking on Tripadvisor for more up to date info.
Salgados is sort of halfway between resorts, Albufeira is roughly 15mins one way (to the old town, maybe 20-25 to the strip) and 15mins the other way to Armacao de Pera. There is a couple of restaurants in the area but probably no more than a handful so if you want a larger selection you need to choose a bigger resort. On the plus side its very quiet and relaxing and the beach is great.

You would make a rubbish TA because you speak the truth;)
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Actually, The Strip serves a useful purpose. Because it attracts the Club 18-30 and stag/hen crowds, it leaves the Old Town for "grown ups" and families.

Thanks so much...I will start doing my research. Think I'll stick to going to the 'old town' part, rather than the strip...well.... maybe go thier to check it out.

what resort is closest to the old town
  • The appartment we stayed at was Clube Abufeira Apartment , it was very clean and beautiful . There is a bus stop across the road that goes into the old town every 30mins ( up till 11pm I think) , however, the Clube Albufeira has a free bus shuttle service twice a day during the week days. You can walk in to town which will take you around 20mins . We wished we had stayed in town centre as it was expensive traveling back and forth everyday using a taxi .
