iPad Mini Insurance - Any recommendations?

Hi all

Can anyone recommend insurance cover for an iPad mini? I recently bought one for my young autistic daughter but really need to sort out insurance on it!

TIA :)

I doubt it, I would have to specify this separately wouldn't I? To be honest, I hadn't even thought about it. I will check but I'm sure my home insurance only specifies "personal belongings" up to a certain amount (would this even be classed as a personal belonging)?

ipads usually count as personal belongings. You have to specifically list any personal belongings over £x but x is usually many hundreds if not thousands of pounds; ipad minis are only £250 or so. The big problem with using your contents insurance to cover an ipad is that your excess and the increase in premium you'll suffer should you have to claim are probably more than the ipad itself.

There are gadget insurers kicking about but we get a constant trickle of threads from disgruntled customers and they are expensive for what they are. (I can insure a building for less than £100 a year). This is one of those cases where the best insurance is a savings account.

I have some gadgets covered by square trade. I get the policies through their website. They have a tablet of mine ATM for repair

TBH, putting a tenner a month in a pot is probably your best bet.

It is unlikely to be cost effective to claim on Home insurance for something at the iPads price point when you consider the excess and premium increases for 3-5 years

Gadget insurance is often abused by people and in response gadget insurers have made terms harsh and they are strictly applied. Add to that they are not "new for old" then many get annoyed by them

Self insurance for single item losses and Home Insurance for theft claims for multiple items etc

Some insurers will cover audio visual equipment for accidental damage as standard. Or you could specify the item on the policy. But check the excess fee that you have on you home policy.

A claim for £250 may not have a huge affect on your policy price (if it's the only one in the last 3 - 5 years). You can do some "dummy" quotes to check.
