royal mail compensation claim

If an item cost you less than £3 to acquire, will royal mail still give you 6 first class stamps if you need to claim compensation for loss?
Is it necessary to provide evidence of the item's value if you'd rather get the stamps instead of a cheque for £1? What if it didn't cost you anything to acquire the item?
If the item doesn't qualify for compensation, will they still give you 6 stamps if it is lost (e.g. jewellery, gift cards) and how would you indicate that on the form?
Lastly, why do they really need to know an item was sold on ebay (and not amazon for example)?
Thanks.

Well, the form saysIn addition to the above, eBay claims must be accompanied by the item sale page and Paypal or bank/credit card statement
eBay item number (please provide this in section 7)
but I don't see how that affects the claim...0
