Buying a car
Hello all! I have my test booked for thursday (eek!) and I want to get a newish car on finance as it'll be used for business (childminder) I would rather get a newish one with warranty for reliability etc whilst having the kids out and about in it.
Anyway I had a look around a Kia garage today as my partner is getting a new company car in September a Kia Ceed, and I found a nice little Kia Picanto 2010 model for £4,600 .
Now I am wondering... Am I able to see if I can haggle this price lower? Or is it that's the price and that's it? Ideally I want to get it down to about £3,800 ;-) think I might be pushing my luck though!

Try it and see. Don't let on that you are desperate, only that you will buy if the "price is a bit sweeter" you should get it for about £4000.
Best buys are 6-12 month old cars, they have taken the biggest depreciation hit, and are virtually new. You might get a 6 month old lease car with 12,000 miles on it for good money.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Ok so Kia have a nice warranty but make sure you check the service history before hand to verify that is has had the service at the correct mileage and time interval, Kia/Hyundai have quite a tight schedule tolerance which I believe is 1 month and/or 600miles over the scheduled interval (something like every year or 10k miles). Outside of this tolerance you may have a struggle to get warranty claims accepted. As for 3800 where are similar vehicles priced on the net, if they are nearer 3.8k then you may get it for that but if he is already representing the lower end of the range then you may struggle much harder. If you can't get the cash off try the alternatives of 1 year tax (6 months if you can't break him), mats, tank of fuel, extended warranty (not so useful on a car with 7 years as standard but for other readers make sure it's a manufacturer approved warranty not aftermarket crap) etc.0
